Food Waste Reduction Scheme

Financial support for food producers to cut food waste

The Food Waste Reduction Scheme provides financial support to food businesses in rural areas to encourage projects which cut food waste. Delivery of initiatives should seek, where possible, to align with the economic and environmental goals of the Food Vision 2030 Strategy

Who is it for?

  • Food businesses in rural areas with projects that will cut food waste. 
  • Businesses must be situated in rural areas outside the administrative boundaries of Dublin, Cork, Galway, Limerick and Waterford

What do you get?

  • Financial support for organisations and economic operators involved in food waste reduction to promote the reduction of food waste generated by primary producers and food businesses in rural areas. 
  • Support is provided under the Rural Innovation Development Fund

What can it be used for?

  • The objective of the scheme is funding for activities or matters that relate to the promotion and/or development of innovative food waste reduction projects. 
  • The initiatives should be underpinned with the overall objective of energising the rural economy by encouraging innovative job creation and sustainable enterprise development.
