Who we are?

Teagasc is the Irish State agency responsible for research, innovation and knowledge transfer for the agrifood sector.

  • Established in 1988 under the Agriculture (Research, Training and Advice) Act
  • Operates under the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine
  • Expertise across agriculture and food research, education and advisory services
  • Focused on competitiveness, sustainability and long-term sector resilience

 


Who we service?

Teagasc services a wide range of enterprises across the Irish agrifood system, including:

  • Primary agriculture enterprises – dairy, beef, sheep, tillage and horticulture farms
  • Food and drink manufacturing enterprises – including start-ups, SMEs and large processors across dairy, meat, beverages, ingredients and prepared consumer foods.
  • Forestry and land-based enterprises – supporting sustainable forest management and land use
  • Agri-related businesses and rural enterprises – including agribusinesses, advisory clients, and innovation-led rural enterprises.

What we do?

Teagasc supports agrifood enterprises to start, scale and compete by providing integrated research, advisory and capability-building supports, including:

  • Innovation and R&D supports – enabling enterprises to develop new products, processes and technologies through applied research, pilot-scale infrastructure and collaboration
  • Advisory and knowledge transfer services - providing tailored technical and sustainability advice to support decision-making and compliance
  • Education, training and skills development - building capability through formal education, professional training and upskilling.

Specialist Infrastructure- Moorepark Technology Limited

Moorepark Technology Limited (MTL) operates an ultra modern plant covering 5,000 sq. metres floor area.

The facility contains the most up-to-date and versatile pilot scale processing equipment for food research and development, and commercialisation.
