We can help businesses to access research insights, performance data, and advice on developing and expanding their tourism business experiences, markets and performance.

As the National Tourism Development Authority, Fáilte Ireland’s role is to support the long-term sustainable growth in the economic, social, cultural, and environmental contribution of tourism to Ireland. Tourism is of critical importance to the national economy and to regional development and employment. 


Who we service?

We work in partnership with: 

  • Government and state agencies to implement policy and drive investment in tourism for the economy and social benefit of all citizens 

  • Local Authorities to support regional development and infrastructure 

  • Public bodies and representative groups to increase the accessibility and profile of tourism for all

  • Tourism Industry partners and local communities to develop tourism sustainably and support local jobs.


What we do?

We provide economic and consumer insights and offer business advisory and capability building programmes and tools, to increase capacity across the industry.  We support Business Events, managing the bidding for and securing of larger conferences, meetings, and events to be hosted in Ireland and lead domestic holiday marketing across four regional experience brands: Wild Atlantic Way, Ireland’s Ancient East, Ireland’s Hidden Heartlands and Dublin.

Climate Action Programme (Tourism/Hospitaility)

Strategic guidance and planning for tourism businesses to become more sustainable and cut costs.

The National Climate Action Programme is a multi year strategic development and investment programme for Tourism & Hospitality businesses in improving business sustainability while reducing operating costs to the business. 

  • Open to established, tax-cleared tourism businesses (owners/managers) in Ireland with a physical business location/premises
  • Businesses must be demonstrably serving domestic/international tourism visitors
  • Businesses must be spending €10,000+ annually on energy (excluding transport), and committed to sustainability.

Accessible & Inclusive Tourism

Fáilte Ireland's Access for Success Initiative provides tailored support and expert guidance to help your business become a leader in accessible and inclusive tourism. By conducting an access audit, participating in a blend of expert-led and self-paced training, and developing an access welcome guide, you are improving your business to meet the needs of all visitors and are positioning your business to attract a broader, more diverse visitor base sustaining its appeal across domestic and international markets.

This initiative is designed for hotels, visitor attractions, and activity providers, operating in Ireland who have the following:

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Visitor-Facing Facility: The business must operate a physical, visitor-facing facility that can be audited (e.g. an attraction, venue, or accommodation).
  • Staffing Capacity: The business must employ 10 or more staff members and have the capacity to designate one employee as the initiative lead.
  • Visitor Attractions & Activity Providers: If the business is an attraction or activity provider, it must welcome 25,000 or more visitors annually.
  • Hotels: If the business is a hotel, it must be registered under Fáilte Ireland's National Quality Assurance Framework (NQAF) Statutory Accommodation Provider.

Climate Action Supports

A range of online resources, guides, case studies and practical tools, including access to a carbon calculator to determine your business carbon footprint and benchmark your carbon emissions nationally and internationally. These tools will help tourism and hospitality businesses meet their sustainability goals and introduce energy efficient cost-saving measures.

  • Tourism businesses interested in introducing digital technologies to enhance online visibility and boost online sales to new audiences.
  • Fáilte Ireland offers specific digital transformation programmes aimed at re-imagining the digital  capability of attractions and activity providers, strategically funded festivals, tourism focused golf courses and tourism accommodations within targeted regional areas.
  • Expressions of interest calls are announced at intervals based on sectoral needs and demand.
  • In order to be eligible, businesses must  demonstrate ambition for commercial growth in line with the programme's objectives.
