When Nik Mehta moved from London to Dublin in 2016, he spotted a unique opportunity to become Ireland’s first dedicated nuts and dried fruit retailer. Inspired by his father’s dried fruit store back in Gujarat, India, and seeing an empty stall in the iconic George’s Street Arcade, Nik knew the timing was right.5

While challenges with suppliers, shifting consumer expectations, and brand protection have kept the family-run business on its toes, Nik has been savvy about getting help when needed.

Through supports like the Lean for Business Programme, Get Exporting, as well as other grants and mentoring from the Local Enterprise Office and Enterprise Ireland, Nutty Delights has streamlined operations, improved efficiency, and introduced critical digital tools. And it's paying off; in 2023, exports accounted for just 1% of revenue, which jumped to 10% in 20246.

Today, Nutty Delights is expanding its product range and exploring new international markets, proving that a niche idea supported by smart strategy and the right backing can grow into something big.
