Short Term Enterprise Allowance

Talk to us if you are: 

• Receiving, or entitled to, Jobseeker’s Benefit or Jobseeker’s Pay-Related Benefit 

• Planning to start your own business 

• In a position to start and run a business as a self-employed person 

• Ready to get approval before starting your business 

Here are all the terms and conditions. 

Once approved, you’ll get: 

• Your qualifying Jobseeker’s payment for up to nine months, depending on your entitlement 

• The opportunity to apply for an Enterprise Support Grant to help with eligible business start-up costs 

• Support and advice from an employment personal adviser 

• Business mentoring and other support to help you get started 

This support can help you to: 

• Start your own business while still getting income support 

• Reduce some of the financial risk of starting a new business 

• Get help with some of your start-up costs 

• Develop your business idea and plan 

• Move from unemployment into self-employment
