Supporting the exchange of knowledge and expertise between academia and enterprise

You may be eligible if: 

Enterprise partners can include a broad range of organisations engaged in research, development, and innovation. These may include:

• Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs)

• Multinational corporations

• Non-governmental organisations (NGOs) & Charities 

• Public sector agencies (where justified, under the partnership stream only)

The programme offers two flexible streams:

• Its placement stream supports academic researchers (at faculty and postdoctoral level) wishing to spend time based in enterprise worldwide. The programme is an important vehicle to support research, development and innovation in an enterprise setting. Fellowships can be between 1 and 24 months full- or part-time, fostering industry-informed research and skills development. 

• Its partnership stream supports suitably qualified postdoctoral fellows pursuing, or intending to pursue, full-time research for a period of 12 or 24 months based in an eligible research body while partnering with enterprise to co-develop impactful research. For the Enterprise Partner, the scheme provides a flexible route to research, talent and innovation in an area closely aligned with its strategic interests.

• Each stream involves engagement from enterprise, where it is understood to include multinational corporations, SMEs, registered charity, social, cultural or not-for-profit civic organisation.
• The partnership stream also allows for engagement with state agencies or an eligible public body where appropriate.
