Foldforming was developed by Charles Lewton-Brain in the early 1980’s. By now, this technique has become a well known silversmithing process.
Who is it for?
The workshop caters for those with basic metalworking skills up to professionals who want to learn more about forming metal. Tools and materials will be provided.
What do you get?
Over the two day workshop, you will be guided through a sequence of step by step demonstrations and exercises using copper to make line folds, forged folds, T-folds and rolled folds. Because this is a such a rapid forming process, you will have an opportunity to make lots of trial pieces to enable you to fully absorb the process and gain knowledge of the working qualities of metal.

What can it be used for?
On Completion of this introductory short course you will be able to progress to additional introductory short courses in silversmithing skills to build up a portfolio of knowledge and to perfect your ability to work with the tools and materials.
Additional silversmithing courses by Seamus Gill and other silversmiths (such as master repousse artist Aiden Breen) will be part of the Sessions House Jewellery and Goldsmithing Centre of Excellence training programme.
