What do you get?
Making a bowl is one of the key silversmithing techniques. This two day workshop will guide you through the process of how to make a bowl using the two main silversmithing methods of forming; sinking and raising. The first bowl will be made using the technique of sinking and the second bowl will be made using the technique of raising. Gilding metal will be used which has very similar working qualities to silver at a fraction of the cost.
Learn fundamental silversmithing techniques such as annealing and sinking gilding metal, hammering a 3-dimensional hollow form from sheet metal, planishing and finishing hollow forms.
On completion of this short course you will gain the knowledge and skills to incorporate forging techniques into your own jewellery and silversmithing designs.
